According to the Bilt Well Catalog No. 40, which was published in the 1920s, exterior doors "create the first impression, look well to the selection of the design but above all, conider very carefully the construction.
In choosing, choose first the design that harmonizes with the style of architecture; then the construction, either softwood or veneered, which will prove most serviceable. The illustrations on the following pages are sufficiently varied to permit such a selection.
'Bilt-Well' doors, whether softwood or veneered, are given the same attention in the use of properly prepared matierial, waterproof glue, and careful workmanship characteristic of all 'Bilt-Well' millwork."
